American Bus Association Foundation Releases Q1 2025 Motorcoach Builders Results
Fri, May 09, 2025 09:50 EDT
Sale of new motorcoaches are up 10% over the prior year's quarter The American Bus Association (ABA), the leading voice in North America's motorcoach, charter bus, group travel and tourism industries, today announced the First Quarter 2025 Motorcoach Builders Survey. The survey, which is produced by the ABA's research arm, the American Bus Association Foundation, produces the report each quarter with data collected from surveys of the major motorcoach manufacturers that sell vehicles in the United States and Canada. This quarter the participating manufacturers sold 393 new and 64 pre-owned coaches, for a total of 457 motorcoaches. This compares with 425 during the first quarter of 2024. Sales of new motorcoaches have increased by 9.5% compared to the same quarter in 2024, with the sale of pre-owned motorcoaches 3.0% lower. "A 10% year-over-year increase in new motorcoach sales is a clear sign that our industry is regaining strength and confidence," said Fred Ferguson, President & CEO of the American Bus Association. "Operators are reinvesting in their fleets to meet rising demand for group travel. But that momentum is at risk. Proposed tariffs on imported motorcoaches, steel, aluminum, and other critical parts could drive up costs and slow future investment. ABA will continue advocating for policies that support growth for the motorcoach industry." According to the data, Q1 data for 2025 show a 27.7% decrease compared to the same quarter in 2019. While Q4 2024 showed a somewhat stronger recovery, with a smaller percentage decrease from the 2019 baseline, Q1 2025 demonstrates a step back. However, comparing the performance to the same quarter last year, we see that Q1 2024 total sales were 32.8% lower than the same quarter in 2019, indicating an improvement of 5.1 percentage points when comparing the same quarters across the two years. "These strong sales reflect the motorcoach industry's commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability-driving growth across the travel and tourism ecosystem," said Lew Myers, Director of Research, Policy, and Impact for the ABA Foundation. Sales to both private and public entities increased in Q1 compared to the same quarter in 2024, increasing by 6.3 and 54.2%, respectively.
All-Energy 2025: Grid Expansion Very Much in Focus
Thu, May 08, 2025 16:17 EDT
Both Scottish Transmission Operators (TOs) Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Transmission and SP Energy Networks are heavily committed to upgrading the power grid and exhibiting at All-Energy (SEC Glasgow - 14-15 May) along with key suppliers such as Hitachi Energ UK and Schnider Electric UK. Announcements from them come thick and fast. Today (8 May) The National Wealth Fund (NWF) has announced a £600m commitment to help Iberdrola and ScottishPower upgrade the British electricity grid - supporting hundreds of jobs and helping to pave the way for a new era of clean electricity. Only last month SSEN Distribution announced that it is to invest almost half a billion pounds improving the north of Scotland's local electricity networks, an investment that will make the existing network more resilient and provide additional capacity to support the decarbonisation of communities and industry. With grid expansion a key conference topic, there is a specially built large theatre (Conference Stage 1) in Hall 3 at SEC to house five of the seven conference session devoted to grid. This is in addition to the FutureGrid show floor theatre programme, which will be in operation throughout the two days of the UK's largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference. Registration is at https://www.all-energy.co.uk/PR and is free for all with relevant business or academic interests. Once registered, visitors can take advantage of the All-Energy App, which is ready to download and use. It can be used to browse the full exhibitor directory (over 300 organisations from 17 countries will be taking part) using filters to find the companies involved with grid and networks listed, and all main conference and show floor theatre programmes, special features and networking facilities. These networking facilities can be used to browse profiles, send messages and request meetings as well as checking the 'What's On' facility for a variety of events and opportunities. The first grid session in the main conference 'Where is the UK on its energy transition journey? And how is Grid helping or hindering?' will set the scene and is chaired by Professor Keith Bell, ScottishPower Chair in Smart Grids at Strathclyde University. His explanatory introduction to the 90-minute session explains: "Everything is in place for clean energy: there is plenty of low carbon generation and storage in the connection queue and strong appetite from investors; there are government commitments to reform planning and place ample new contracts for difference; there has been lots of innovation; and there are well-advanced plans for transmission network development. "Or: only a portion of the grid connection queue can be expected to be advanced and the 'stickability' of queue reforms is yet to be tested; constraint costs are large and growing; we keep changing our minds on what a holistic network design looks like; Britain's network companies have been slow out of the blocks in striking contracts for equipment and hiring and training personnel; wholesale market reform raises big uncertainties; there are questions about resilience; and we haven't even started thinking about how to accommodate increased demand for power. Which of these narratives is true? Join this panel of experts to find out." He certainly has experts on his panel - Rob McDonald, Managing Director SSEN Transmission; Nicola Connelly, CEO, SP Energy Networks; Julian Lesley, Director of Strategi Energy Planning and Chief Engineer at the National Energy System Operator (NESO); Melanie Macrae, Deputy Director Clean Power 2030 Unit, Policy and Delivery at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zerio (DESNZ); Tom Hughes, Assistant Director energy, National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority. The quality of the line-up is reflected in all the sessions in the grid and network stream. Other sessions look at 'The complexity of the grid upgrade: the Net Zero grid must be smarter as well as higher capacity' sponsored by Hitachi Energy UK with Laura Fleming, Country Managing Director for Hitachi Energy in the UK and Ireland delivering a keynote address and then joining the panel of experts from National Grid, Innovate UK, Grid Enhancing Technologies, and NESO with Susan McDonald, Energy Transition Lead, Deloitte in the chair. Next come sessions on two vital topics - connections, and REMA . Both have been discussed before at All-Energy in 2023 and 2034. The first (on 14 May) is 'Connections Strategy and Reform: Aligning with Clean Power 2030' with Lawrence Slade, CEO of the Energy Networks Association once again in the chair; and the second, with Kersti Berge, Director of Energy and Climate Change, Scottish Government in the chair for the third year running is 'Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA): An update' (on 15th). Other grid-related sessions are an Innovate UK, SIF, Ofgem 'Consortium building workshop for Ofgem SIF Round 5'; and 'Marketing the Transition'. Session descriptions and full speaker lists are online at https://www.all-energy.co.uk/25 and on the All-Energy 2025 App. All-Energy's headline sponsor, Shepherd and Wedderburn, celebrates its 11th year in the role; other sponsors include Noventa, Hitachi Energy UK, Statkraft, SEFC, Black & Veatch, SGS, Flexitricity, AMSC, XING Mobility Inc and the University of Sheffield. Glasgow Convention Bureau is All-Energy's official partner; and The Society for Underwater Technology is its Learned Society Patron. All combine to make this year's show, set right in the middle of Glasgow's Climate Week, and during Glasgow's 850 year celebrations, a very special two days. ENDS All-Energy, the history: The UK's largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference has been held since February 2001. As Confidence in Public Healthcare Wanes, Private Services Must Step Up
Thu, May 08, 2025 04:38 EDT
New YouGov data reveals a growing crisis of confidence in the UK's public health system, with 64% of Britons saying the government is handling health "badly" and just 24% responding "well". Against this backdrop, private healthcare services like Well by Vertis, part of Vertis Health, are stepping in to provide timely, compassionate and comprehensive care for patients who feel let down or overlooked. The surge in demand is particularly apparent in the area of medical weight loss, where Well by Vertis has seen a marked increase in clients seeking both clinical support and empathetic, non-judgemental care. Many of these clients are in their 40s and beyond, having struggled with weight throughout their lives and having been brushed off time and time again with ineffective advice and diet plans. For them, accessing a supportive environment - where they are seen as a whole person, not just a number on a scale - is transformational. Stephanie Smith, Lead Nurse at Well by Vertis, says this human-centred approach is central to the clinic's ethos. "We see so many clients who've been carrying the emotional burden of weight issues for decades. Some feel too embarrassed to share that they're on medication, even with friends or family," she said. "That's where we step in - not just with clinical expertise, but with genuine understanding. Our service is about helping people feel safe, supported, and empowered on their journey." While the NHS continues to provide essential care, ongoing pressures exacerbated by long waiting lists, staff shortages and limited access to specialist services mean many patients are seeking alternatives. The team at Well by Vertis believes that private providers have a growing responsibility to fill these gaps in a way that complements public health provision. Clients of Well by Vertis are often looking for more than just prescriptions: they're seeking structured guidance, encouragement, and continuity of care. Every patient begins with an in-depth consultation, followed by a medically supervised plan tailored to their needs. Regular check-ins ensure they remain supported both physically and emotionally. In a time where public trust in health leadership is faltering, Well by Vertis stands for a different kind of care: personal, professional, and proactive. With a model built on compassion and clinical excellence, it's a reminder that healthcare should be as much about how people feel as what they're treated for. Balefire's vision includes expanding annual revenues to $215 million, growing to $42 Billion in AUA, and scaling the Balefire team to 300 elite professionals. "Throughout history, a balefire has been a powerful, towering flame that serves as a beacon, bringing people together in seasons of transition, fostering a sense of community and guidance," said Stephanie Elton, Chief of Staff at Balefire. Updated CEN Test Method for PFAS in Textile Products
Wed, May 07, 2025 08:28 EDT
SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 059.25, summarizing the European Committee for Standardization (CEN)'s update of the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) test method. PFAS chemicals are commonly found in industry and consumer goods due to their water/oil/dirt/grease-resistant properties. However, many of these substances have been found to be harmful to both human and environmental health. EN 17681-1:2025 replaces the current EN 17681-1:2022 standard, introducing a major shift in the analytical approach for detecting PFAS in textiles. The new approach has been found to identify significantly higher levels of certain PFAS analytes commonly present in treated textile materials. The new standard is expected to transform PFAS testing practices across the global textile industry as brands, retailers and suppliers are obliged to meet evolving regulatory requirements. The enhanced testing approach will provide more precise and comprehensive data, supporting better-informed decisions regarding safety and compliance. SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 059.25 includes an overview, including additional information, on the new testing approach outlined in EN 17681-1:2025. Advanced PFAS testing capabilities also form part of the SGS IMPACT NOW for sustainability initiative, which helps clients achieve regulatory compliance while achieving environmental goals. Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 059.25 for more details. Recycled PET Plastics in Food Contact Materials Now Permitted in India
Wed, May 07, 2025 08:15 EDT
SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 060.25, reporting on India's decision to allow the use of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in food contact materials (FCM) and articles. The use of PET is controversial due to its significant environmental footprint, the high energy demands of its recycling processes, and the bioaccumulative contamination caused by microplastics as it degrades. In March 2025, India published Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) First Amendment Regulations 2025 (the Amendment). This permits products made with recycled PET for the packaging, storing, carrying or dispensing of food products, provided the applicable standards and guidelines are notified by the food authority. Originally issued in 2018, the Regulations have undergone several amendments since then, including two revisions in 2022. The recycled PET-related update under the First Amendment Regulations came into effect on March 28, 2025, the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 060.25 includes information about the previous revisions to the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, as well as a link to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India's (FSSA) authorizing mechanism for manufacturers using recycled plastic in FCM. Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 060.25 for more details. SGS food contact material services SGS's technical experts have extensive experience of testing materials and articles in contact with food. They can ensure that your products meet the appropriate regulations for food contact materials and pave the way for compliance. SGS offers the full range of testing, including migration tests, along with expert advice on emerging regulations, compliance issues and documentation review. The Code Zone Launches Groundbreaking Augmented Reality Tech in Local Coding Clubs
Wed, May 07, 2025 06:43 EDT
Forget old school coding lessons on ancient computers: The Code Zone, a leader in innovative coding education for children, has officially launched its cutting-edge augmented reality (AR) technology across several of its local clubs, giving young coders the chance to immerse themselves in the worlds they create! Unlike traditional tech learning environments, The Code Zone's members aren't necessarily aspiring developers: they're curious, game-loving kids who enjoy experimenting and creating. The AR platform taps into that mindset. Developed fully in-house over several years, this trailblazing tech is now in active use in Cambridge, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds, Saffron Walden and Bishop's Stortford, with plans to expand further in September. This second-generation AR application is a major leap in how coding is taught and experienced. Children begin by coding on a desktop app, where their changes are saved in real-time. They can then scan a QR code, put on a VR headset, and step directly into the interactive 3D environments they've built. Inside this augmented world, they can test, tweak, and explore their code hands-on - with changes appearing live on both headset and desktop. The technology allows learners to interact with drones, flying cars, and other virtual objects, bringing their projects to life in a way that was previously impossible. Sessions are tailored to the child's age, with younger members spending around 20 minutes in AR and older ones averaging 45. The result is a fun, engaging, gamified learning experience that mirrors what children already love about video games like Minecraft - all while building real-world coding skills! "This is something truly special," said Ashley Payne, CEO and Co-founder of The Code Zone. "We've spent years developing this technology because we believe that the future of coding education lies in immersion, interaction, and imagination. This AR system gives children a completely new way to understand the logic and impact of their code - not just on a screen, but in a space they can explore and shape. It's fun, it's educational, and it's opening doors to creativity and problem-solving like never before." The response from members and parents has been overwhelmingly positive, and the clubs are now at full capacity with waiting lists. With even more innovation on the horizon - including plans for multiplayer virtual clubs and rollout to schools and app stores - The Code Zone is well on its way towards transforming how the next generation learns to code. Shell Shock's Next-Gen 7.62x51 Ammo Crushes Military's Most Demanding Live-Fire Evaluation
Tue, May 06, 2025 11:41 EDT
Shell Shock Technologies , LLC. (SST), a leading innovator in the ammunition industry, is proud to announce a critical achievement in its mission to redefine military-grade ammunition performance. The company's 7.62x51mm NAS 3 cartridge cases have successfully completed rigorous testing at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, one of the most demanding environments in the defense sector. The results: zero case failures. The tested ammo used a 155-gr bullet, loaded at 50,000 psi, and had velocities of 3000 ft/sec. It was tested under extreme pressure and velocity in belt-fed machine guns, including the 240 Bravo and Minigun platforms, SST's 7.62x51 cases passed with flying colors, even under the violent conditions of automatic fire and harsh ejection cycles. Testing was conducted at ambient temperature, -40°F and +160°F, with all pressure and velocity benchmarks met or exceeded. "This milestone underscores the durability, consistency, and tactical advantages of our NAS 3 case technology," said Peter Foss , Managing Director and CEO of Shell Shock Technologies. "Zero case failures in such unforgiving conditions is not just a win for us - it's a validation for every warfighter and defense partner looking for lighter, faster, and more accurate ammunition." The 7.62x51mm success joins a growing list of calibers, including 300 BLK, 5.56, 6.5 Creedmoor, and the promising early results from .338 Lapua, that are reshaping battlefield expectations.

11th Hour Call by Tory MPs on Jeremy Hunt to Cut Fuel Duty
Tue, May 06, 2025 10:28 EDT
A 11th hour petition from 2 dozen Tory MPs, led by Jonathan Gullis, has been sent to the Chancellor asking him not to hike fuel duty in the Autumn Statement. With inflation climbing to a crippling 11.1% and petrol and diesel prices being a major contributor to the rise in the cost of living, MPs are supporting FairFuelUK's demand that Fuel Duty must be cut to stimulate growth, but at the very worse this regressive tax must stay frozen at the current level for the lifetime of this Parliament. The letter can be downloaded at https://fairfueluk.com /FairFuelUK-MPs-Letter-to-JHunt.pdf MPs who signed the letter include: - Jonathan Gullis MP - The Rt Hon Priti Patel MP - The Rt Hon Sir John Redwood MP - Sir William Cash MP - Pauline Latham MP - Craig Mackinlay MP - Phillip Davies MP - Jack Lopresti MP - Henry Smith MP - Virginia Crosbie MP - Andrea Jenkyns MP - Stephen Mcpartland MP - The Rt Hon Brandon Lewis MP - Sir Graham Brady MP - Greg Smith MP - Jack Brereton MP - Kelly Tolhurst MP - Scott Benton MP - Jill Mortimer MP - Mark Jenkinson MP - Holly Mumby-Croft MP - Nick Fletcher MP - Jill Mortimer MP Jonathan Gullis MP said: "My constituents in Stoke-on-Trent, along with those in the rest of the UK, simply have no choice but to use their diesel and petrol vehicles on a regular basis. "The current eye-watering pump prices continue to hurt small businesses and hardworking tax payers. With this year's VAT bonanza to the Treasury from the costs of filling up, a significant cut in Fuel Duty would be appropriate right now so people can keep more of their hard earned money." Craig Mackinlay MP Chair of the Net Zero Scrutiny Group said: "We are in real danger of sleepwalking into an unnecessary and lengthy recession. The mere whiff of one can become self-fulfilling as consumers stop spending. I'd agree that inflation is the big fear at present; all may have differing views as to the root cause, but some international reasons are agreed - energy costs with huge reliance on expensive imported energy feeding into supply chains and costs being felt by all households. The government has recognised this with the winter energy price guarantee likely to shave 5% off of headline inflation. It now stands to reason that tax inflated road fuel prices similarly are feeding inflation. I welcome the fact that EVs may now face a new road tax to properly reflect their share of road use and damage but now must be the time for a bold move on petrol and diesel fuel taxation to further reduce inflation, lowering government and householders future interest costs and providing a growth stimulus to the whole economy. The majority of road users relying on petrol and diesel vehicles for day to day life need a significant fuel tax cut in Thursday's Autumn Statement. Be bold Chancellor!" Howard Cox, Founder of FairFuelUK and Secretary to the APPG for Fair Fuel for Motorists and Hauliers said: "Jeremy Hunt must wake up to the reality, be a real Tory, that consumer tax incentives, not punitive tax hikes, are the only way forward to boosting the economy. It does not take a genius to recognise that more money in all our pockets is the route forward out of this needless recession and to pay down the nation's debt. The deluded and arrogant belief that spending trillions will halt climate change should be dumped for a sound sensible fiscal stimulus to consumer spending. Cut Fuel Duty Big!" Background: Since 2011 the APPG for Fair Fuel for UK Motorists and UK Hauliers has examined major issues that impact on UK drivers. Along with FairFuelUK, it has been a major influencer on keeping Fuel Duty frozen since 2011. As well as fuel taxation, other issues addressed by the APPG that impact on drivers, have included congestion charges, ULEZ/CAZs, parking costs, roads investment, unfair treatment for fossil fuelled vehicle owners, solutions to lower emissions, cleaner fuel incentives, alternative technology options and transparent pricing at the fuel pumps with a continual call for PumpWatch. With the expected decline in Fuel Duty revenue, the APPG will also formulate a long-term approach to the future of road taxation and a positive transport strategy for all road users. https://fairfueluk.com Since 2010 FairFuelUK has saved drivers over £160bn in planned tax hikes in duty and VAT through constructive and objective campaigning. Had FairFuelUK not campaigned to scrap the fuel duty escalator, fuel tax today would be 90p/lt rather than 57.95p/lt. Today we would be paying £2.40+ per litre at the pumps had FairFuelUK not fought for the World's highest taxed drivers. Because of the Campaign, inflation is down 6.7% and £24bn has been put back into consumer spending each and every year since 2011.

As a merger of two equals, the entity's combined assets under management (AUM) topped $3.7 Billion as of January 1, 2025. Balefire's vision includes expanding annual revenues to $215 million, growing to $42 Billion in AUM, and scaling the Balefire team to 300 elite professionals. MORE THAN A MERGER: A FOUNDATION FOR WHAT'S NEXT The leadership team - composed of Jason Hester (former CEO of Navitas) and John Hoffman (former CEO of VisionPoint), now serving as co-managing partners - says the formation of Balefire is rooted in operational alignment, cultural fit, and a shared conviction around long-term impact. "This combination is not about getting bigger - it's about getting better," said Jason Hester, Managing Partner of Balefire. Advisors operate within a single, collaborative framework to deliver a seamless, strategy-driven experience across all phases of wealth stewardship. The firm's integrated model allows it to scale customized services - such as succession planning, business transition consulting, and multi-generational family governance - without compromising the personal, values-based advisory relationships that are foundational to its model. "With 66% of advisors eyeing a change due to limited growth, support, or a desire to build a better business model. Balefire is redefining partnership in wealth management," said John Hoffman, Managing Partner of Balefire. "Our recent merger strengthened our frameworks, that give advisors more clarity, control, and alignment to seize better opportunities and navigate complexity - all on one team. Balefire is built for that." BALEFIRE: A SYMBOL OF ENDURING GUIDANCE AND DISTINCTION The Balefire logo is more than a design element - it's a powerful metaphor for the firm's mission and values. The flame emerging from the "f" is a subtle nod to both the firm's name and its promise: to be the spark that ignites financial growth, the warmth that protects wealth, and the ever-present guide through each client's unique journey. "Throughout history, a balefire has been a powerful, towering flame that serves as a beacon, bringing people together in seasons of transition, fostering a sense of community and guidance," said Stephanie Elton, Chief of Staff at Balefire. "Balefire's logo and name together signal a firm that is not only sophisticated and exclusive, but also deeply committed to illuminating the way for those who have achieved exceptional success."
Repair Café Lambeth Celebrates Two Years of Fixing Items, Connecting People, and Fighting Waste
Tue, May 06, 2025 05:20 EDT
On Saturday 7 June 2025, Repair Café Lambeth will celebrate its second anniversary - marking two incredible years of community-powered repairs, climate action, and connection in the heart of Lambeth. Since opening its doors in 2023, Repair Café Lambeth has prevented 1,418kg of waste from going to landfill and saved 12,374 kg of CO₂ emissions by helping residents repair everything - from toasters and trousers to bikes and laptops. You name it, they fixed it! With an impressive 91% repair success rate, the initiative has quickly become an incredible example of sustainability and community spirit. At its core is a massive network of over 300 skilled volunteer repairers - the largest volunteer force in the borough - offering their expertise and time to help neighbours extend the life of everyday items. But Repair Café Lambeth is more than a place to fix broken things: it's become a vibrant hub where people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds come together - sharing skills, stories, and laughter over sewing machines and soldering irons as they give new life to old items. "Yesterday, they were strangers who would have walked past each other on the street," said Olga Osuch, Manager of Repair Café Lambeth. "Today, they're high fiving over a restored lamp or a repaired radio. That's the power of community: fixing things and building bonds at the same time." The café's impact isn't limited to the workbench. In October 2024, it launched the inaugural Lambeth Climate Day, a landmark event that brought together 400 attendees, 17 funders, and 39 local environmental groups at Lambeth Town Hall. The day included a Lambeth Net Zero Network pitch competition, where 12 organisations competed for a £2,500 climate innovation prize, sparking new collaborations and climate action across the borough. As Repair Café Lambeth enters its third year, the team is energised and ready to expand their impact. Plans for the future include a South London climate organisation co-working hub, community training sessions, and increased access to tools and repair knowledge for all. The 2nd anniversary celebration on 7 June promises to be a joyful occasion open to all, with music, workshops, and - of course - plenty of repairs. Sherwin-Williams Remains World's Most Valuable Paints and Coatings Brand With all-time-High Brand Value
Tue, May 06, 2025 05:05 EDT
New data from Brand Finance reveals the world's top 10 paints and coatings brands reach a collective brand value of $24 billion Sherwin-Williams is the world's most valuable paints and coatings brand for the fourth consecutive year, with a brand value of $8.5 billion Asian Paints is the world's strongest paints and coatings brand, earning a AAA+ rating Nippon Paint is the sector's fastest growing brand, up 18% Access media downloads LONDON, 6 May 2025 - Sherwin-Williams is the world's most valuable paints and coatings brand, with a brand value of USD8.5 billion , according to the Chemicals 50 2025 report from Brand Finance, the world's leading brand valuation consultancy. After stagnating in 2024, Sherwin-Williams' brand value increased by 12%. Brand Finance attributes this growth to strategic pricing initiatives and an expanded distribution network. In January 2025, Sherwin-Williams implemented a 5% price increase across its product lines to further boost revenue and offset rising costs. PPG remains the second most valuable brand in the sector despite a 7% decline in brand value to USD3.8 billion while Nippon Paint ranks third, with an 18% increase in brand value to USD2.9 billion, making it the sector's fastest growing brand for 2025. This rise is driven by strategic acquisitions which have fuelled Nippon Paint's revenue growth, particularly its 2024 acquisition of AOC, a global composite resins manufacturer. Brand Finance data also reveals that the brand's expansion into adjacent markets has also notably boosted its enterprise value. Meanwhile, India's Asian Paints remains the world's strongest paints and coatings brand, with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 91.9/100 and a corresponding AAA+ rating - the highest rating awarded by Brand Finance. Its strength stems from positive consumer perceptions of its highly reliable manufacturing and distribution in the market. Brand Finance's research data also shows that the brand achieved high levels of familiarity and reputation in its home market, underscoring strong domestic credibility. In 2025, the brand became the world's fourth most valuable paints and coatings brand, moving ahead of Axalta Coating Systems , which dropped to fifth. Its brand value rose by 9% to USD1.6 billion. Savio D'Souza, Valuation Director at Brand Finance, commented: " Sherwin-Williams continues to lead the sector in brand value, driven by bold pricing strategies and expanded distribution. Equally noteworthy is the momentum among other leading brands. Nippon Paint 's rapid growth reflects the power of smart acquisitions and market diversification, while Asian Paints has cemented its position as the world's strongest brand through exceptional consumer trust and domestic credibility. These shifts highlight how brand value in the industry is being shaped by both local leadership and global ambition." Chinese Chemicals Brands See 18% growth Despite Overall Market Dip
Tue, May 06, 2025 04:45 EDT
New data from Brand Finance highlights shifts in global brand power across chemicals sector amid ongoing volatility BASF is the most valuable chemicals brand for 11th year running despite market challenges Wanhua's brand value surges by 40% to become world's fastest-growing chemicals brand DuPont retains title as world's strongest chemicals brand Access media downloads Despite a broader market slowdown, Chinese chemicals brands have seen a notable 18% growth in 2025, according to the Chemicals 50 2025 report from Brand Finance, the world's leading brand valuation consultancy. The combined value of the world's top 50 chemicals brands, now standing at USD82.5 billion, registered a 2% decline, largely attributed to the sluggish performance in key Western markets, particularly the US and Germany. For the 11th year running, BASF (brand value up 3% to USD9.5 billion) retains its position as the world's most valuable chemicals brand. This domination underscores BASF's resilience in its industry, despite broader market challenges. Brand Finance's research data reveals that the brand notes strong scores for its 'reputation' across key Asia-Pacific markets, including India, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, in addition to its home market of Germany. SABIC (brand value at USD4.9 billion) remains in second position for the fifth consecutive year. Dow (brand value up 4% to USD4.5 billion), meanwhile, has ascended to third place, overtaking Linde , a testament to its sustained investment in sustainability and technological advancements. Meanwhile, DuPont (brand value up 9% to USD2.0 billion) also retains its title as the world's strongest chemicals brand for the fourth consecutive year, noting a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 82.9/100 and an AAA- brand strength rating. According to Brand Finance's research, DuPont scores strongly for reputation and brand appeal among respondents in Europe and Asia, underscoring its strong consumer recognition and trust, reinforcing its position as a key player in the chemicals sector. China's Wanhua (brand value up 40% to USD2.0 billion) has emerged as the fastest-growing chemicals brand in 2025, propelling the brand to move up seven positions to the 12th rank overall, largely driven by strong financial performance. Chinese brands like Wanhua and Rongsheng Petrochemical (brand value up 6% to USD3.2 billion) have capitalised on strong domestic demand and government-backed initiatives in promoting green chemistry and circular economy practices. Savio D'Souza, Valuation Director at Brand Finance, commented: "While Western chemicals giants continue to dominate for brand strength, Chinese brands are quickly gaining ground in brand value, with seven out of eight Chinese brands rising in brand value and rank in the 2025 Chemicals 50 ranking. Companies like Rongsheng Petrochemical, SABIC, Satellite Chemical , and Wanhua are aligning with national priorities, investing in sustainable technologies, digital transformation, and innovation, to bolster their market positions and enhance their global competitiveness."
